At the greatest little cafe with Erdal
This week we had a heat wave here but as hot and sticky as it was I was still determined to go hang out at my three favorite spots, Taksim, Sariyer and Anadolu Kavagi. We Spent most time in Sariyer which is really close to Kilyos and is where some of my Turkish family live. Sariyer is a beautiful little sea town and I never tire of walking around it’s little cobble stone streets with it’s amazing old houses, cool little textile and supply shops, and cafe’s that have spectacular views. Yesterday we took a boat to Anadolu Kavagi, Anatolia which is right across from Sariyer and only a 20 minute ride. During the boat ride we spotted many dolphins which was very special because they’re not around very often. I had a magical day there with Anne, Cigdem and Ayse. We journeyed up the mountain side first with quite the jovial taxi driver who lets just say was a speedy Gonzalez incarnate, literally flying to the top and dying with laughter. On top was a special sacred place with the most beautiful Mosque and the most magical views ever. Afterwards went back to the village below where we ate an amazing fish lunch and then spent time visiting all the little shops full to the brim with gorgeous Turkish handmade crafts. Besides all the expeditions we’ve been taking I’ve been getting down to business starting to design some new necklaces, bracelets and earrings from the beads I’ve been collecting and can’t wait to get them finished and up in store. Have a great week folks!!!
