Sister Colleen in her "Gaugin Room", Katonah, NY 2007
I took this of my sister Colleen a while ago and really love how it captures the truly radiant being she is. In July 2007 she gave me an amazing wedding party with just the family there and it really felt like I was dreaming all day, that’s how beautiful it was. She has this amazing dining room painted in a Gauguin style depicting birds and greenery and when I first laid eyes on it I nearly dropped right there being the biggest fan of Gauguin.
This shot was taken that glorious day with her pet birds in the room singing away. Because she is the biggest animal lover and rescuer of them you’ll ever know, I loved that she has all the birds around her and how with the black and white she appears unified with her surroundings.
She even made sure I had a Gauguin style wedding cake!
