A few of my favs from the show

Erdal always leaves me baffled with his photographic talent! He took this shot last week outside the show.
Could’ve been a great Joy Division Album cover!

John Chamberlain’s new show ‘Choices’, at the Guggenheim Museum is a knockout first full-dress survey of his work in this country since 1986.  Chamberlain is often identified as the artist who successfully translated Abstract Expressionism into three dimensions. When he moved to New York in 1956 within a few years he hit upon the decision to utilize car metal as art material. His sculptures which hewn from automobiles inevitably attracted the wrong interpretation; where Chamberlain employed creative re-use, others saw simply car crashes. He spent the rest of his life outrunning that association. The show goes to great lengths to extricate Chamberlain from what he called “the car-crash syndrome.” It includes work made from foam, aluminum foil, paper and plexiglass, and emphasizes the collage process behind the metal sculptures rather than the material that went into them.

The show’s subtitle, “Choices,” reinforces his sense of control. It refers to a quotation from Mr. Chamberlain: “Some seem to think that I work with found pieces, but I don’t. They’re chosen, you see.”

The retrospective also confirms many things we already know, or suspect, about Mr. Chamberlain: That he was an ace colorist, who used the scrap yard as his palette. That he made deforming big chunks of automobiles look as easy as crushing a soda can or scrunching up a piece of paper. That the suggestion of sudden violence, whether car generated or not, gives his art much of its power.

Show ends May 13th.

So exciting!! Grammy award winning artist Esperanza Spalding whose one of the brightest lights in the musical world was rock’n my jewels at the Pre-Grammy celebrations and on CBS News!  It’s the greatest compliment and honor for this ultra talented Jazz Musician to be wearing my jewelry. This was the second time Esperanza wore my jewelry, the first time was for her 2010, Chamber Music Society, Album. Thanks Esperanza!! And huge thanks to the amazing stylist Cassie O’Sullivan who made it all happen.

New Jewelry For Sale in Store

by on February 12, 2012

I’m so excited, I’m just coming up for air and able to relax after a long couple of weeks of creating new jewelry for the shop as well as getting some exciting news I’ll share soon with you.  I had fun working with brass this time for a change but quickly found out how challenging it is to photograph.  I loved how the pastel colored natural stones looked along side the brass and definitely up to messing around more with different metals. Here some new shots form shop.

Hi folks! I opened up my new art store separate from etsy a while ago which is nicely stocked up right now but just wanted to remind everyone because there’s been some confusion, that I still have my fine art store up on etsy as well.  Here’s a few prints below I’ve begun to add to the store.
